I was born in one of the biggest countries in Africa, Congo DRC, in a nominal Christian family;
By that I mean that I was going to the Catholic church but didn’t know God nor His Word!
I was living according to the counsels of my mind, or the mind of my friends!
I didn’t hear seriously about God and Jesus until I was 18 years old;
Even then I didn’t immediately came to believe in Him;
I started to get interested in the things of God because of my brother who was living a worldly life and suddenly was changed and transformed,
after He met Jesus Christ in a revival church.
By listening to his testimony and hearing him talk about salvation to everyone, so basically presenting the Gospel,
I became interested to know if my life was right before God.
As it was common with men, I was justifying myself that I was not really a bad person, I was not a criminal…
I did not kill anybody and therefore I don’t see why God would condemn Me.
But at the same time, I was a drunkard, a smoker and was living for my own pleasure;
I continued with my worldly life until the year 1989 when I faced some tragedies: my father passed away, other painful events, failures in Life and so I begin to think seriously about my need for God.
I started going to church and reading the Bible although I was not able to understand it completely.
And then one day on october 1989, Jesus Christ revealed Himself to me and I was born again!
That event changed me completely and gave me a new vision of the reality of this present world.
I abandoned many of the things I was attached to like drinking beers, smoking cigarettes, running after girls etc…
This change was not compulsory or by following religious rules. It was just a result of the discovering of God, My Creator;
The love I was feeling for Him and my desire to listen to Him and obey Him;
The other discovery when I met God was my comprehension of the Bible. It was previously like an ordinary book when I was reading it
and I was unable to understand everything in it.
But after being touched by God, when I read the Bible, it was like God speaking to me personally.
The Scriptures written in it were like jumping and speaking to my heart directly.
Then one year later, I left my country and traveled to Europe. I arrived in Belgium for studies at the University of Liege.
When I arrived in this new country I continued with my search for God, my faith continued to grow and about 4 months after my arrival
in Belgium, I was wonderfully baptized with the Holy Spirit which gave my life a new fresh flow!
I had fallen in my walk with God several times, because in this life we have a tempter, who is the devil. He is against God, His plans, His purpose for men on this earth. The devil is the author of deceptions and lies that take men away from the path of God.
But if one really belongs to God, God won’t let him be overcome by the devil;
True believers of Christ can fall down even several times, as I was sometimes, but God will keep sending messages or warnings to revive us.
I thank God who has always rescued me and refreshed my faith so that I can continue in his straight and narrow path.
Sometimes (this is my recent experience) we can be taken away from God’s way by following false teachings, false doctrines that will bring false faith. My believing is from where the Lord Jesus rescued me in the last 3 years; I was a teacher and fervent defender of the Doctrine of Faith and healing. Although faith and healing are fundamental doctrines of the Bible, there has been a corrupt movement which started using faith
to bring false doctrines of prosperity and the love of the things of this world, bringing many in the trap of the devil…
I had to listen to God’s revelations and warnings to abandon that way and return to the sound doctrine of the Bible, which is about knowing Jesus as Lord, seeking salvation, holiness and pleasing God in all that we do…!
